WATFORD received a huge boost on the eve of the Premier League season as Odion Ighalo signed a five-year contract extension.
The striker’s blistering form last campaign led to big-spending Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG having a £38million bid rejected by the Hornets last month.
A number of other clubs were also linked with a move for the 27-year-old.
But he has eased fears he could leave by committing his future to the Vicarage Road outfit.
Odion Ighalo still had four years left on his existing contract, but he has penned a new and improved deal to tie him to Watford until 2021.
He was a key figure for the Hertfordshire outfit last year as they easily survived their first campaign in the top-flight after winning promotion the previous season.
The Nigerian struck a productive partnership Troy Deeney, who also agreed a new contract with the club recently, up top and bagged himself 15 goals.
Watford will be hoping the pair start the new campaign in similar fashion when they travel to Southampton on Saturday.
