Its been a routine work out for the champions and they should be really out of sight at this stage but for poor finishing by Tevez and smart goalkeeping by Niemi.

Ronaldo has been good as has Tevez’s approach play. Rooney has done some niche things but he seems short of match practice but Giggs has been quiet as has Anderson.

Fulham have not offered much but they did have their chances with Murphy and Kuqi and Simon Davies thought he had a good penalty claim when Brown just ran into him during a corner kick.

John O’Shea replaces Patrick Evra at the start of the 2nd half.

Slight chance for Simon Davies but he screws his shot wide in the 48th minute.

Good header by Hughes to keep his side out of trouble after a good cross by Tevez was looking for Rooney in the 57th minute.

From the resulting cross by John O’Shea, Ronaldo’s header makes it 2-0 in the 57th minute.

Chance for Boazza to reduce it the deficit but he shoots wide in the 60th minute.

David Healey is on for Clint Dempsey in the 64th minute.

What a waste by Rooney twice in 30 seconds as his first attempt was a pass to Tevez was too long and when they worked the ball back to him his show was woefully wide in the 67th minute.

Rooney brings out a routine save from Niemi in the 69th minute from a pass of Ronaldo.

Seol is on for Bouazza in the 71st minute as Rooney comes off for Louis Saha.

Michael Carrick is on for Wes Brown in the 74th minute.

Ronaldo went over Niemi and incredibly the referee Rob Styles booked him when he should be a penalty in the 77th minute.

Good save by Niemi from Ronaldo as he ran on to a through ball by Giggs in the 84th minute.

Another smart save from Niemi from Ryan Giggs this time in the 86th minute.

Saha has just missed a glorious chance to make it 3-0 as he was left all by himself but shot at Niemi and Tevez could not capitalize on the rebound.

 Manchester   United  2 Fulham 0

It was a routine victory to be honest and the score line could have been a lot worse but for the heroics of my man of the match Anton Niemi.

There were some good performances from individual players like Ronaldo, Tevez in patches and Davies for Fulham but no outstanding performances.
