Shkodran Mustafi has a £42m buy-out in his contract and Valencia are ready to accept around £30m, but Arsenal have yet to agree a fee
Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has agreed to join Arsenal.
Mustafi’s agent Ali Bulut says personal terms have been agreed and now the clubs must thrash out an agreement on a fee with Arsenal hoping to complete the transfer over the weekend.
Bulut said: “Shkodran and Arsenal agree. There are only the terms to be agreed on a transfer fee.”
German international Mustafi has a £42m buy-out in his contract and Valencia are ready to accept around £30m, but Arsenal have yet to agree a fee.
It would be a huge boost for Arsenal as they have identified Shkodran Mustafi as their No1 target amid a defensive injury crisis with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel both out.
They were keen on West Brom’s Jonny Evans but Tony Pulis blocked the move and Mustafi is likely to be welcomed by frustrated Arsenal fans who have been desperate for new signings.
Arsenal’s interest in Alexandre Lacazette has cooled with Lyon demanding in excess of £40m and Wenger may start the season with Alexis Sanchez up front.
Wenger is likely to use Nacho Monreal and Calum Chambers as a makeshift central defensive partnership on Sunday.
