Everton centre back John Stones has been named as Manchester City‘s No24 this season – even though his move from Goodison Park ‘won’t be completed for 24 hours’
John Stones has been the subject of a transfer bid from Pep Guardiola‘s side who named him in their Champions League squad on uefa.com ahead of last night’s midnight deadline.
As news of Stones’ inclusion emerged, bth City and Everton confirmed the deal ‘will be confirmed in the next 24 hours’, with City seeming to have agreed to meet Everton’s £50m valuation for the defender.
Skipper VIncent Kompany’s name was not in the squad along with Wilfried Bony, Samir Nasri and Eliaquim Mangala – all thought to have an uncertain future under Guardiola.
But Yaya Toure – tipped to leave – was included.
Stones could make his Manchester City debut next week in the play-off round at Steaua Bucharest.
