Ousmane Dembele is reportedly rejecting contact with his club Borussia Dortmund as he hopes to push for a transfer to Barcelona.
The Catalan giants have failed with an opening bid for the France international, who has emerged as their priority target to replace Neymar after his £199million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Dortmund have confirmed they rejected Barca’s offer for Ousmane Dembele, and have not yet received a second as they deem Dembele’s move to the Nou Camp as unlikely for the moment.
Dembele himself, however, seems to be making life difficult for his club as he stays out of contact with them since unexpectedly missing training yesterday.
According to Kicker, it is not yet known if or when the 20-year-old plans to return to Dortmund, or whether he will be in action for their next game.
Reports elsewhere have suggested Dembele is close to getting his wish to join Barcelona, but that is at odds with Kicker’s claims that they are not yet close to meeting his £136m asking price.
Dortmund only signed Dembele from Rennes last season and shone in his debut campaign in the Bundesliga, also attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and City this summer.
Still, the Frenchman himself has welcomed interest from Barcelona, whom he once called his dream club in an interview during his days at Rennes.
Barcelona have also been chasing big names such as Philippe Coutinho and Christian Eriksen as they look to reinvest the huge amount brought in from Neymar’s sale.
