Swansea City have completed the signing of Borja Baston, in a club record deal.
Borja Baston, 23, joins from Atletico Madrid for £15.5million and has penned a four-year deal at the Liberty Stadium.
Baston becomes Swansea‘s eighth signing of the summer and could prove healthy competition for fellow Spaniard Fernando Llorente who signed from Sevilla last Friday.
“There is pressure, but it is good pressure. I want to repay the transfer fee paid for me with good performances and results,” said Borja after being unveiled.
“It’s difficult to set a target of goals, but my mantra is take it goal by goal. Hopefully I can score a lot of goals.
“It is the most important decision of my career. I want to settle and spend several years here.
“I am very happy to be here. I am eager to contribute to the success of the team.”
Since making his Atletico debut in 2009, Baston has had season-long loan spells at Murcia, Huesca, Deportivo La Coruna, Real Zaragoza and Eibar.
Borja, who stands at 6ft 1ins, scored 23 league goals for Zaragoza in the 2014-15 campaign before netting 18 for Eibar the following year.
The fee will eclipses the £12million that Swansea paid Vitesse to sign Wilfried Bony in 2013.
