Alphonso Davies again CONCACAF Player of the Year

Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies has been voted CONCACAF Player of the Year for the second year in a row. The 22-year-old Canadian was the first footballer to successfully defend his title at the awards of the football confederation of North and Central America and the Caribbean.

“It’s really an honor to be named CONCACAF Player of the Year,” said Davies. “But I couldn’t have done it without the help of my team-mates. It puts a smile on my face and spurs me on to keep going for to fight our goals.” Davies made history in Qatar as Canada’s first goalscorer at the World Cup.

The women’s award for 2022 went to Khadija Shaw (Jamaica/Manchester City). In addition to coaches and players from the member associations, media representatives and fans were also involved in the vote.
