Change of sides for two Bundesliga pros: Anton Stach from 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Nils Petersen from SC Freiburg will referee a game in the district league on March 25 in Nierstein, Rhenish Hesse.
Bundesliga referee Deniz Aytekin supports the duo from the sidelines. The campaign will take place on the day of the international match between the German national team and Peru (8.45 p.m.) in Mainz.
As initially reported by the Allgemeine Zeitung Mainz, national player Stach and ex-national striker Petersen each whistle one half of the competitive match between VfR Nierstein and TSV Mommenheim (3:00 p.m.). Former FIFA referee Aytekin is said to be connected to the two via headset.
With the campaign, the German Football Association wants to advertise the referee office. At a press conference next Monday, the association wants to announce details of further appearances by professionals as referees.
In addition to general youth concerns, the DFB is also fighting against the increasing number of game abandonments due to violence against referees.
