Attack on Bayern? “That’s absurd”

Max Eberl has categorically ruled out a sporting attack on Bayern in the coming years.

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sports director Max Eberl has categorically ruled out a sporting attack on Bayern in the coming years. He also spoke about the future of Matthias Ginter and Denis Zakaria.

“To sit down here and say: Tomorrow we attack Bayern – that’s absurd. You have to keep an eye on the realities,” said Eberl in the One-two “from Sport1.

Gladbach cannot be compared at all with Bayern or RB Leipzig, said the 48-year-old. That is why one always plans at Borussia without participating in international business.

“We always have to work everything out ourselves, have done everything on our own. We always plan without Europe. We are a club that only spends the money that it has. That is why we are so healthy,” Eberl clarified.

However, the corona crisis had also hit the Gladbach-based company financially, the former professional continued: “Now everyone’s equity has melted away like snow in the sun. And now we’re supposed to suddenly compete with Bavaria? That won’t work.”

After Gladbach’s 3-1 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, coach Adi Hütter’s team took ninth place with ten points from seven games. The next opponent is VfB Stuttgart on October 16.

Gladbach: Eberl is planning a contract offer for Ginter

The manager of Borussia gave the fans hopes that central defender Matthias Ginter (27) would stay. “Now more money is coming in and we will try to invest it sensibly and appropriately for the players,” he said of the fans returning to the stadiums.

This also applies to Denis Zakaria (24), whose contract, like Ginter, expires next year. “I don’t feel without a chance,” said Eberl: “It’s a lot of work, but I’ll face it.”
