FC Bayern Munich, News: Holger Badstuber criticizes Julian Nagelsmann
The former German national player Holger Badstuber is critical of Julian Nagelsmann’s verbal lapse in the Bundesliga game at Borussia Mönchengladbach (2:3), even with a time lag. “As a Bayern coach, you mustn’t offer a target for attack, you have to try to focus solely on the sporting side,” explained the former Bayern professional in an interview with the Munich evening newspaper: “But Nagelsmann doesn’t always succeed.”
After his previous positions in Hoffenheim and Leipzig, the record champion is “a completely different number, also in the media” for the 35-year-old. There is no doubt that Nagelsmann “is a tactically excellent coach,” emphasized Badstuber. But as a “Bayern coach, you should be so confident that the players are the stars who are talked about and discussed more.” Now it’s up to Nagelsmann himself “whether he wants to change public perception and the current picture, which seems fragile,” Badstuber continued.
The Bayern coach complained loudly about the lightning red against Munich’s Dayot Upamecano (8th) during the defeat in Mönchengladbach and made disparaging remarks towards the referee team led by Tobias Welz. On Saturday evening he apologized via social media.
On Wednesday, the DFB sports court fined him €50,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. The court decided against a ban, so Nagelsmann is on the sidelines in Sunday’s top game against Union Berlin.
FC Bayern Munich, News: Manuel Neuer is rid of his crutches
Manuel Neuer can walk again without crutches after breaking his lower leg. How sky and Picture report, the 36-year-old was also present at a meal shared by Bayern players and coaches and was again without crutches.
The Bayern keeper was still limping slightly, but he was up for a joke again. “I’m fine – in two days it’s against Union,” Neuer called to some waiting reporters.
Despite this recovery progress, it is already clear that the five-time world goalkeeper will be out at least until the end of the current season.
FC Bayern Munich, News: Ibrahimovic flies off the pitch in Bayern II’s thriller victory
FC Bayern’s second team shocked regional league leaders Unterhaching with a last-minute win. FCB midfielder Arijon Ibrahimovic saw the red card shortly before the end of the game after he had pushed Manuel Stiefler from Unterhaching and the referee rated the action as an assault.
Previously, Stiefler had stopped a Bayern counterattack in the 87th minute with a fierce tackle on Hyunju Lee, causing Ibrahimovic to knock Stiefler over. After forming a pack, Ibrahimovic, who recently made his professional debut under Nagelsmann, and Stiefler both saw straight red.
In the so-called S-Bahn derby, Grant-Leon Ranos put the Bayern amateurs ahead in the ninth minute, and shortly afterwards Stiefler was able to equalize for the Unterhaching team coached by Sandro Wagner. After that it looked like a draw for a long time before Lee scored the 2-1 winner for FCB shortly before the end. Haching is still two points ahead of the Würzburger Kickers in first place in the table, Munich are still in fifth place after the three.
