"Basically, I'm open to everything"

Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel keeps all options open for the summer. “We’ll see what’s best for me. Basically, of course, I’m open to everything,” said the AS Monaco keeper after the 3-2 (1-0) win in the second round of the Europa League at Bayer Leverkusen.

The 26-year-old is on loan to the Monegasques from record champions Bayern Munich until the end of the season. “I feel very, very well. I play a lot of games,” said Nübel, his focus is “as of now” fully on Monaco. The keeper has already made 32 competitive appearances for the eight-time French champions this season.

The former Schalke was loaned to the Principality in the summer of 2021 to get more match practice. Nübel is not surprised that Bayern signed a top-class replacement in Yann Sommer after Manuel Neuer’s absence.

“It was clear that they would get a goalkeeper. A club like Bayern Munich will always have top goalkeepers there. This is a top 3 club, there will always be goalkeepers you have to compete with,” said Nübel about a possible one Three-way battle in the event of a return to Munich in the summer.

Neuer, who will be out until the end of the season due to a broken leg, has a contract in Munich until 2024. Sommer signed a working paper until 2025 after moving from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
