Bayer Leverkusen won the last test before the Bundesliga continues. The Werkself drew 1-0 (0-0) against Danish champions FC Copenhagen to successfully complete the dress rehearsal before the west duel at Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday (5:30 p.m.).
Returnee Florian Wirtz initiated the only goal of the day with a through ball. Substitute Amine Adli executed confidently (69th). Most recently, Wirtz had successfully reported back from his cruciate ligament tear. The 19-year-old scored one goal in each of his first two appearances.
After 15 match days, the highly ambitious Leverkusen team is only in twelfth place. Before the winter break, however, the Rhinelanders had shown themselves to be in improved form again with three wins in a row.
