Bayern women in the Allianz Arena: "a milestone" for Kahn

The FC Bayern women’s footballers will appear on the big stage in Munich for the first time: the Champions League quarter-finals on March 22 against top French team Paris St. Germain will take place in the Allianz Arena.

“We are very happy about this milestone in the more than 50-year history of our women’s football department,” said CEO Oliver Kahn about the premiere.

According to Kahn, coach Jens Scheuer’s team is getting “the stage it deserves. I hope that the general conditions will allow for a football festival where many Bayern fans will support our women in the Allianz Arena.”

The FCB women usually play their home games on the Bayern campus. Due to the corona pandemic, the government is currently allowing 10,000 fans in the 75,000-seat Allianz Arena.

Five years ago, the Bayern women played against PSG in the quarter-finals of the premier class. At that time, 7,300 spectators watched the game in the Grünwalder Stadium.
