Bielefeld's Brunner replaced after an unfortunate fall with a head injury

A moment of shock in the Bundesliga game between VfL Wolfsburg and Arminia Bielefeld: Guest defender Cedric Brunner fell unhappily on his neck after a header duel with Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind in the 27th minute and had to be carried off the field five minutes later on a stretcher, fixed with belts.

Here is the live ticker of the game.

Nothing was initially known about the severity of the injury. Wind was able to continue participating in the game after a break in treatment.

There had already been a serious head injury in Bielefeld’s ranks last weekend. Striker Fabian Klos collided heavily with teammate Alessandro Schöpf in the 1-1 draw against VfB Stuttgart.

Subsequent diagnosis revealed that Klos had sustained a fractured skull base. An operation followed on Monday. This “went well,” said Bielefeld’s sporting director Samir Arabi: “Fabi will not have any permanent damage. We will do everything we can to support him in his recovery.”
