Borussia Dortmund may be interested in US Lecce defensive midfielder Morten Hjulmand. That reports the Picture.
Hjulmand would therefore probably be much cheaper than Edson Alvarez, who is also being traded as the successor to Jude Bellingham in Dortmund. Loud Picture Ajax demands a fee of 45 million euros for Alvarez.
Hjulmand’s contract in Lecce expires in 2024, the 23-year-old Dane has been playing for the Italian club since January 2021. A few months ago he was associated with BVB.
Hjulmand made 35 Serie A appearances (four assists) for Lecce last season. With strong performances, he had a decisive part in the relegation of the southern Italians.
BVB: Hjulmand came to Lecce from Austria
Hjulmand comes from the youth team at FC Copenhagen, but then switched to Admira Wacker in Austria at the age of 19. After two and a half years there, at the beginning of 2021, he went on to the then Italian second division club in Lecce for 170,000 euros.
Hjulmand has been nominated several times for Denmark’s national team since the summer of 2022, and he is currently in the squad. But he is still waiting for his first international appearance.
