BVB, News: Fan protest against DFL share sale

Before the home game against Union Berlin, the fan alliance Dortmund South Stand called to protest against a sale of shares in the German Football League (DFL). The spectators should bring their own banners to Signal Iduna Park and hold them up at the beginning of the second half, according to their website.

Such a sale of media rights to investors is intended to bring in additional money for the clubs. The supporters fear that these investors could have a say in fundamental questions about the direction of the Bundesliga.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, BVB boss and head of the supervisory board, already ruled that out, as he said in a conversation with the Süddeutsche Zeitung explained.

There had already been protests at the game in Munich – initiated jointly by the supporters of Dortmund and Bayern: “Separate in colors, united in the matter,” it said.
