Borussia Dortmund fans meet photographers before Revierderby with flares

There was a moment of shock before the district derby between Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund. BVB supporters met a photographer with a flare.

The Dortmund supporters set off plenty of pyrotechnics more than an hour before kick-off. During the block storm at around 5:10 p.m., a Bengalo flew in the direction of a photographer.

His jacket and vest caught fire, but the man was unharmed, according to media reports.

Those responsible at Schalke 04 were immediately informed of the incident. The perpetrator should be found.

According to information from PictureThe photographer concerned has already reported the incident to the newspaper. “It was a well-aimed attack. There was nobody else around. I don’t even want to think about what would have happened if the torch had gone into the hood instead of my back…” he told the paper.

Even in the run-up to the Revierderby, there had been resentment among the fan camps. Due to the classification as a high-risk game, alcohol is strictly prohibited in and around the stadium in the arena.
