BVB, News: Kehl explains Hummels replacement

Mats Hummels had to leave the place early in the 2-1 win against Besiktas Istabul in the Champions League. Borussia Dortmund gave the warning after the game.

Like licensed player manager Sebastian Kehl opposite DAZN confirmed that another injury to the defense chief is not the reason for the substitution. “Mats was flat, he was through. But there is nothing worse with the patellar tendon,” explained the 41-year-old.

Hummels had gone down exhausted in the 70th minute and had indicated that he wanted to leave the place. The place in Istanbul was also difficult to play on. “We saw that Mats is not ready for 90 minutes,” admitted coach Marco Rose. Marin Pongracic made his second appearance in the premier class for the 32-year-old.

The international had missed a few games during the first few weeks of the new season due to patellar tendon problems. Hummels had not traveled to the DFB team either.

Jude Bellingham and Donyell Malen had also left the place with Hummels. Marius Wolf and Youssoufa Moukoko came into play. “Some guys were very exhausted,” explained Sebastian Kehl, “but those who came in did well”.

Julian Brandt, who was replaced by Axel Witsel, stayed in the locker room at half time. According to Rose, the 25-year-old was “muscular problems” that led to the substitution.

BVB, News: Bayern star reacts to Bellingham photo

Jude Bellingham became the match winner in the 2-1 win in the CL opener against Besiktas Istanbul. After his important 1-0 lead for BVB, the 18-year-old had the second Dortmund goal by Haaland after a great solo run.

The young Englishman was then voted “Player of the Match” by UEFA and posted pictures of the trophy and his goal celebration on Instagram. After great praise from team-mate Erling Haaland, among others, a Bayern Munich player reacted to Bellingham’s performance.

Jamal Musiala commented on the pictures with the compliment “Top” and an applause emoji. The two talents had been on the pitch together for various England U-teams before Musiala decided on the German national team.

BVB wins against Besiktas: votes for the game

  • Jude Bellingham (goalscorer Borussia Dortmund): “It was a brilliant atmosphere. The game was a bit like basketball, it went back and forth, but we were a bit more ripped off in the end.”
  • Erling Haaland (goalscorer Borussia Dortmund): “It was very tough. I’m really tired now, the course wasn’t good either. It was hard work. Bellingham is fantastic. He’s just 18, three years younger than me. That’s crazy. He’s fantastic, I can not say more.”
  • Sebastian Kehl (BVB licensed player manager): “It was really loud. We’re used to a lot in Dortmund, but there was only half of it today and the whistling was so loud. Still, I prefer to play in Dortmund. I think it was a well-deserved win, we’d have a third or fourth goal a lot sooner We had no conceding goals until the end, we wanted to improve that too. “
  • Marco Rose (coach Borussia Dortmund): “We won the third game in a row and also mastered the really difficult task here. We had difficult phases and still deservedly won. We were basically good at counter-pressing, had to switch from diamond to 4-2-3-1 and from there on we had the game under control very well. At the back we make the game compulsory again, but we are very happy that we won. “
  • Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund): “I think it was difficult to get in at the beginning. But after that we put pressure on the front and gained more control over the game. I think after such a long time without fans the atmosphere is really special, but we did a great job today. Jude Bellingham is a great boy with a lot of quality and has thrown himself into every ball. “

BVB, News: Shitstorm for CL jersey

BVB has received a shit storm from its fans because of the now official Champions League jersey. Dortmund’s U19 played against Besiktas in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday with a jersey without the club crest.

The professionals also started wearing the jerseys later. Dortmund’s neon yellow cup jersey was leaked at the beginning of May. Back then responded the BVB in a statement and claimed that the published images did not reflect the final design of the CL jersey.
