Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Youssoufa Moukoko for several weeks. The diagnosis of his injury from the game against Werder Bremen is now clear.
Moukoko has suffered a tear in the syndesmosis. He will miss BVB for around six weeks and will miss the two Champions League games against Chelsea, among other things. “This is bitter news for him, for us, especially in the current phase,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl.
The 18-year-old was in Dortmund’s starting eleven against the North Germans, but had to be substituted after around half an hour after a foul by Leonardo Bittencourt.
Moukoko only extended his contract with BVB until 2026 at the beginning of the year after lengthy negotiations. In the current season he has played 18 games in the Bundesliga (six goals, four assists), six in the Champions League (0/2) and one in the DFB- Cup (0/1).
