Ex-Bundesliga professional Vincent Kompany is said to be in the narrow circle of candidates for the coaching position at Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 36-year-old is currently head coach at RSC Anderlecht.
Little by little there is movement in the search for a successor to the Austrian Adi Hütter, who left Gladbach after just one season. The Belgian newspaper reported that the former central defender Kompany had been targeted by the Foals La Derniere Heure/Les Sports.
At Anderlecht, the newspaper wrote, there had been disagreements about the future direction. Therefore, the future is open and the long-time captain of Manchester City and the Belgian national team is also traded elsewhere.
At Anderlecht, Kompany worked as a player-coach on the sidelines for the first time in 2019/20 and subsequently took over the coaching position.
Ex-coach Lucien Favre (64) is the favorite on the Lower Rhine. He should get a two-year contract, the confirmation is loud picture but still out. The Swiss had already worked at Borussia between 2011 and 2015. Kompany should be the alternative in case the Favre deal bursts.
Kompany also traded at Burnley
In addition to Gladbach, the English Premier League relegated FC Burnley should also show strong interest.
Kompany once defended in the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV, later he earned the reputation of a legend with the Citizens. Kompany is still a novice in coaching, but led Anderlecht to third place in Belgium with an attractive style of play. Nevertheless, there does not seem to be any agreement in the club between the coach and the management.
