Maria KeaneSupervisory board boss Philip Holzer wants to take the Italian top club Atalanta Bergamo as a model with Eintracht Frankfurt. “What the Italians have done in recent years is impressive,” said the 55-year-old picture: “You play with about the same budget as us, but recently you have continuously qualified for the Champions League.”
Bergamo have the “best youth work in Italy,” explained Holzer: “They have a consistent style of play, manage to rebuild failed players elsewhere, tend to let people leave instead of paying crazy salaries. And with this policy they prevail against the big ones Clubs that have completely different resources. ” That should give hope to clubs like Frankfurt.
In terms of sports budget, the SBU is currently “seventh in the league and 48th in Europe,” continued Holzer: “To talk about titles would be too daring. But I hope that we will be there as often as possible internationally are – or at least always have the chance to be there. ” Atalanta’s example shows that it is possible.
