Bundesliga, friendlies: Mainz in goal frenzy

Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 started the summer preparations on Saturday with a thumping victory. VfL Bochum also successfully completed their first test.

In their first test match against the district upper division club 1. FC Kiedrich in Geisenheim, Mainz easily won 21:0 (7:0).

The goals for coach Bo Svensson’s team were scored by Marcus Ingvartsen (3), Marc Richter (2), Kaito Mizuta, Keanu Kraft, Danny Schmidt (5), Merveille Papela (3), Nelson Weiper (2), Ben Bobzien (2 ) and Edmilson Fernandes (2).

The next test match against Wormatia Worms is scheduled for next Saturday. Mainz will play their first competitive game on July 31 in the first round of the DFB Cup at third division club Erzgebirge Aue. In the Bundesliga, Mainz starts a week later at VfL Bochum.

VfL Bochum: Newcomer Hofmann celebrates goal premiere

Bochum won its first test match at the regional league team Wuppertaler SV 2-0 (1-0). Newcomer Philipp Hofmann scored his first goal in the VfL dress in the fifth minute, and shortly before the end Silvere Ganvoula (88th) followed up. Hofmann came to Bochum from the second division club Karlsruher SC.

VfL is playing its first competitive game of the new season on July 30th in the first round of the DFB Cup at regional league club Viktoria Berlin. In the Bundesliga, Bochum will face FSV Mainz 05 a week later.
