BVB, rumor: Borussia Dortmund duo without a future?

Thomas Meunier and Mateu Morey probably have no future at Borussia Dortmund. That’s what they report Ruhr news.

At Meunier, despite his contract running until 2024, the signs are clearly pointing to farewell. BVB is said to be hoping for a transfer of up to ten million euros from a sale, while the Belgian is already exploring his options. In the past there had been rumors about FC Barcelona’s interest.

In addition, a departure from Meunier would also greatly relieve Borussia’s salary costs. According to the report, the right-back earns up to eight million euros a year. Due to many injuries he has only made two short appearances this season, most recently he injured his adductors during his second appearance for the BVB reserve team in the 3rd division.

Morey’s contract also runs for another year after the end of the season. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that he will again play a major role in coach Edin Terzic’s plans.

Morey has been struggling with serious knee injuries since April 2021. A cruciate ligament rupture was followed by a comeback in the second team in August 2022, but the right-back’s other knee was affected shortly afterwards.

Although Morey has long been part of team training again, he has not been called up for the squad since then, neither for the Bundesliga nor for the 3rd division.

BVB also has two other options at the back right with Marius Wolf and Julian Ryerson. In addition, 18-year-old talent Iván Fresneda is said to be signed by Real Valladolid.

For this reason, the chances of Ansgar Knauff returning are slim. The 21-year-old has been on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt since January 2022.

The competition at BVB should him according to the Ruhr news put off though. Especially since he has also lost his regular place with the Hessians. The SBU should be loud sky nevertheless prepare an offer for a permanent engagement.

BVB, News: Jude Bellingham’s dig at sponsor?

After the dispute between the fans of Borussia Dortmund and the stadium sponsor, Jude Bellingham also confessed to the name “Westfalenstadion”.

“Big game, big win. I’ve never heard the Westphalians so loud, thank you! Five (games; editor’s note) to go,” wrote the midfielder Twitter.

As in the last home game against Union Berlin, BVB fans hung a banner with the inscription “Forever Westfalenstadion” on the south stand of the Signal Iduna Park against Eintracht Frankfurt before the game against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

The action had caused a lot of criticism from the sponsor two weeks ago. “For me, that’s unacceptable, considering how much we’ve supported this club for a long time and stood by it when others didn’t want to give a cent more,” said CEO Ulrich Leitermann of the insurance group: “I wish that an appreciative approach that takes both interests into account.”

A discussion ensued on social media afterwards. In addition, strangers put up a poster in front of the Signal Iduna headquarters in Dortmund on the day before the Frankfurt game. “Ulrich Leitermann – own goal of the year” read on it.

The arena in Dortmund was renamed Signal Iduna Park in 2005, previously it was called Westfalenstadion.

BVB, News: Youssoufa Moukoko talks about his situation

Youssoufa Moukoko spoke about his current situation after the 4-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt, which saw his side take the lead in the Bundesliga. The young striker has had to settle for a reserve role since his injury break.

“I’m happy to take it. I’ve been out for seven weeks, I need a little more. The manager always decides who plays. I’ll get my time and it’s up to me whether I start or come off the bench.” said Moukoko am sky-Microphone.

The 18-year-old continues: “I’m satisfied with the time I’ve had so far. The coach trusts me, he shows it to me and I’m very satisfied.”

Since his return in April, Moukoko has made four brief appearances in the Bundesliga and 45 minutes of play in the DFB Cup. He scored a hit. Despite the clear result, he was only substituted on in the 77th minute against Frankfurt.

BVB, News: Borussia Dortmund now leaders

Borussia Dortmund are top of the table after beating Eintracht Frankfurt. There are still five games to go before a possible title.

It is not a complete surprise for Sebastian Kehl that FC Bayern made a mistake in Mainz. “We still believed that Bayern Munich won’t win every game,” said the sporting director sky: “Of course, Bayern’s result was an issue again today in the bus, in the locker room. The tension was high, but we still needed a certain calmness and clarity in our game. The team did that very well today.”
