BVB, News: Julian Ryerson before a quick return?

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic expects full-back Julian Ryerson, who missed the game against SC Freiburg (5-1) with tonsillitis, to return soon.

“We hope that it will subside in a day or two and that he will be available again next week,” said Terzic in the run-up to the game sky. Ryerson already “showed slight cold symptoms” on Friday, explained the BVB coach. “On Saturday he woke up and had tonsillitis.”

The 25-year-old Ryerson switched from Union Berlin to BVB in January after Thomas Meunier was injured and played more than 90 minutes in each of the first three games after the winter break. Against Freiburg, the Norwegian was replaced by Raphael Guerreiro in the back left of the back four. The Portuguese prepared three goals.

BVB, News: Great joy about Sébastien Haller’s goal debut

Sébastien Haller could not have imagined a better time for his first goal in a Borussia Dortmund jersey. “It was in my head from day one to score in front of the Yellow Wall. It was the best possible day,” said the attacker after the 5-1 win over SC Freiburg.

Haller, who was only in the starting XI for the second time after suffering from testicular cancer, scored his first goal for BVB on World Cancer Day of all days. “It means a lot to me that I scored the goal on that date,” said Haller sky: “I’m happy and I hope that I’ve made a lot of other people happy. But the road is long and we’ll walk it and hopefully score a lot more goals.”

All in all, the Dortmunders were very happy about Haller’s special moment, and Sebastian Kehl was also enthusiastic. “You could hardly have written this story better,” said the sporting director. And Nico Schlotterbeck, who gave BVB the lead against his former club, enthused: “I had goosebumps all over my body, it was something extraordinary. He’s an incredible target player, he has brutal power.”

BVB, News: VfL Bochum is hot for a duel in the DFB Cup

Borussia Dortmund must be prepared for a hot cup fight at VfL Bochum on Wednesday – Bochum coach Thomas Letsch underscored that. “What could be nicer than playing against BVB on Wednesday evening after a win like that,” said Letsch after his team’s 5-2 win over TSG Hoffenheim.

For Bochum it was their fifth win in their fifth home game under Letsch. Letsch would like to expand this series in the cup duel with district rival BVB on Wednesday (8.45 p.m.). But for the VfL coach, the role of favorites is “clearly distributed”, his team has “nothing to lose”.

For youngster Moritz Broschinski, who scored the final score just nine minutes after coming on as a substitute, it is a reunion with his former club. The 22-year-old moved from Dortmund’s third division team to Castroper Strasse just two weeks ago. “He threw himself into it,” said Letsch about the new winter signing: “You can tell that he wants to take advantage of this opportunity in the Bundesliga.”
