Coach Steffen Baumgart from 1. FC Köln criticized Anthony Modeste’s move to league rivals Borussia Dortmund last summer. “From a sporting point of view,” said Baumgart before the game at BVB on Saturday evening sky“he should have stayed with us. That would have been best for everyone.”
FC has not yet been able to compensate for the departure of top scorer Modeste. Modeste last scored in Dortmund on October 8th against FC Bayern Munich and did not get beyond the role of the joker.
In 24 competitive games so far, the Frenchman has only played 1,139 minutes, two goals and one assist. Youssoufa Moukoko ranked first, followed by Sébastien Haller. Because of Haller’s testicular cancer in the summer, BVB decided in the summer to sign Modeste for 5.1 million euros from 1. FC Köln.
Recently there were rumors that Modeste could move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
