Maria KeaneThe CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger has announced his departure from VfB Stuttgart. The 39-year-old will not extend his contract, which will expire in autumn 2022, and has already communicated this decision to supervisory board chairman Claus Vogt and the entire committee.
“VfB takes this decision with great regret, but fully respects it”, the Stuttgart-based company announced on their homepage and assured that the decision will have no effect on the ongoing cooperation.
“Thomas is doing a great job as head of our AG. Under his leadership, VfB has developed very well in terms of sport, has become more professional and has maintained the profile of a club that stands for social values such as tolerance and sustainability and represents them openly,” said supervisory board chairman Vogt .
The decision was not an easy one for Hitzlsperger, who took office as CEO in October 2019. “I associate many wonderful moments with this club and the people who work here,” he said, highlighting the good work done last year: “Despite the loss of income due to the pandemic, we have managed to make VfB attractive in terms of sport and solid economics To set legs. “
