On Saturday, Thomas Tuchel was officially introduced as the new FC Bayern coach at a press conference in the Allianz Arena. He also expressed a clear desire to bring his former assistant manager from Chelsea, Anthony Barry, to Munich. “We hope that Anthony Barry will also be there, but he’s still at Chelsea at the moment,” said Tuchel.

Chelsea, however, are apparently not enthusiastic about this move. A report by DailyTelegraph according to the Blues should be upset that Tuchel made the interest in the assistant coach public. A request from the FCB has already been received, it is said.

Accordingly, Barry (36) is quite interested in following his former boss to the Isar, but Bayern have not yet made an offer for any compensation for Chelsea.

Barry came to Stamford Bridge under Tuchel’s predecessor at the Blues, Frank Lampard, and is also on the coaching staff under Graham Potter. Barry also worked for the Ireland national team, was on the coaching staff of Roberto Martinez at Belgium during the 2022 World Cup and has now followed the Spaniard to the Portugal national team.

On the other hand, it is clear that his long-time companions Arno Michels and Zsolt Löw will also assist at FC Bayern Tuchel. However, contrary to initial announcements, Tuchel’s first training session at Bayern Munich will not take place on Monday, but on Tuesday. The reason for this is that, according to information from Picture flew to London on Saturday evening to fetch important documents from there that he obviously needs for the training work.
