Maria KeaneCoach Christian Streich from SC Freiburg has expressed sharp criticism because of the denial of the supposed equalizer in the Bundesliga game against Union Berlin. “It’s crazy. After the two recordings I’ve seen, it’s a complete mystery to me,” said the Breisgauer coach after the 1: 4 (0: 3) against Köpenicker on Saturday, with a view to the decision of the video assistants.
Referee Felix Brych took back the goal to put Lucas Höler (23rd) at 1:1 after a tip from the Cologne basement.
“The ball is on the sleeve. Maybe I’m squinting, but I didn’t see that it was under the skin. That’s not a hand,” said Streich, who was particularly upset because Brych hadn’t seen the scene himself.
He would like to speak to video assistant Schmidt, “how he came up with the idea of being convinced not to let anyone look at it anymore,” said Streich. From his point of view, it was “a game-changing scene” that “would have opened up many opportunities for us”.
