Christian Streich is not resentful after his little dispute with Jamal Musiala. “If you lose a game like that, that’s the completely logical reaction,” said the SC Freiburg coach on Wednesday about the much-discussed scene after the cup quarter-finals at Bayern Munich (2-1): “He doesn’t want to that someone touches him because he’s so preoccupied with the situation. It could have been me.”
Musiala has already promised that as a small compensation he would like to hand over his shirt to Streich after the league game on Saturday (3.30 p.m.) in Freiburg.
“He’s also a bit embarrassed from time to time that I collect jerseys here and there,” said Streich: “But I do that for children. I don’t hang the jerseys up in my bedroom.”
The 20-year-old Musiala caused the hand penalty to Freiburg’s victory in injury time on Tuesday. Streich wanted to comfort the offensive jewel after the final whistle, but the visibly disappointed Musiala refused to shake hands and left the SC coach standing.
