Christoph Daum is in intensive care: worries about the trainer legend

Concerns about the legendary coach Christoph Daum, who is suffering from cancer, are growing. “I’m in the hospital in New York in intensive care,” shared the 69-year-old RTL with.

The Cologne-based private broadcaster had asked the former Bundesliga coach for an interview, whereupon he said: “I can’t be expected for the time being.”

Daum made his illness public in October 2022. At the end of April he had spoken about his fight against cancer.

“I used to have to fight another team, now it’s the disease. Just like I wanted to win every game, I also want to win this fight. Events and performances like today give me courage and confidence that I’m on the right track am,” he said in sports1-One pass.

Daum’s greatest success was just over 20 years ago, when he won the German championship with VfB Stuttgart in 1992. He also dusted off several titles in Turkey.

As coach of Besiktas Istanbul, he won the cup and the championship, the latter also twice with Fenerbahce Istanbul. In 2003 he won the double with Austria from Vienna.
