Curious glitch for Dieter Hoeneß's birthday

Hertha BSC has made a curious glitch. The Berliners congratulated their former manager Dieter Hoeneß on January 7th on his 70th birthday, but they made an embarrassing calculation error.

The Hertha management around President Kay Bernstein, Managing Director Tom Herrich and the then Sports Director Fredi Bobic had reported to Hoeneß by greeting card. Instead of the 70th, those responsible congratulated him on his 80th birthday. This is from a report by Picture-newspaper out.

A few days later, the capital club apologized to Hoeneß and sent another birthday card – this time with the correct age. The birthday boy should not have been angry about the faux pas, but smiled at it.

Hoeneß, brother of Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli, took over Hertha in 1997 shortly before relegation. Under his leadership, the club reached the Champions League and the UEFA Cup several times. In 2009, Michael Preetz took over the office, when Berlin even played for the championship.
