Defense chief Robin Knoche stays with the Bundesliga club Union Berlin. The 29-year-old extended his contract with the Irons, which expired at the end of the season. The club announced this on Friday without specifying the term.
Knoche moved from VfL Wolfsburg to Köpenick in 2020 and has only missed one game for Union since then.
“Union made it very easy for me right from the start and gave me a great welcome. We managed to stay up again, we qualified for Europe and asserted ourselves in European competition. These moments and the very good discussions with those responsible at the club have made the decision easy for me,” said Knoche.
“His experience, his will to perform and his consistent performances have made him one of our team’s top performers,” said sporting director Oliver Ruhnert. “Robin should continue to be a key component of our Bundesliga team in the years to come.”
