Konrad Laimer, courted by the German record champions Bayern Munich, has indicated his departure from cup winners RB Leipzig. It is “quite possible that I won’t play in Leipzig next season,” said the 25-year-old at the Austrian national team’s camp in Bad Tatzmannsdorf.
According to various media reports, the transfer of the midfielder to Munich has long been taking shape. A sum of 18 to 20 million euros is under discussion as a fee for Laimer, who still has a contract with RB until June 2023.
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann had recently spoken out in favor of hiring a “pressing machine” and is considered a fan of Laimer, whom he coached in Leipzig. After Corentin Tolisso, the Munich side want to give up another midfielder in Marc Roca. A safe signing for the headquarters is Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax Amsterdam, whose transfer is imminent.
