Maria KeaneThe control committee of the German Football Association (DFB) has initiated investigations against Kerem Demirbay from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen because of his statements about referee Felix Brych.
After the 2-0 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday, the midfielder said in a TV interview about the referee: “The referee is getting on my nerves. It’s crazy. I hope that he doesn’t happen so often for us in the future whistles.”
Demirbay was first asked by the control committee to comment. As soon as this is available, a decision will be made on how to proceed, the DFB announced on Monday.
The background is that Demirbay from Brych saw the 10th yellow card after forming a pack and is now suspended. According to his own statement, Demirbay only tried to mediate.
