Youssoufa Moukoko helps Dortmund coach Edin Terzic gain confidence

BVB trainer Edin Terzic has given youngster Youssoufa Moukoko his support. At the press conference before the game at Werder Bremen on Saturday, he said about the striker, who was recently only a reserve player on several occasions: “There is absolutely nothing missing for the starting XI.”

Terzic also said about the 18-year-old: “This year he was in the starting eleven in two of five games. We are in exchange and know where we are. He will not only have important games, but also score important goals. We are 100 percent sure of that.”

The 2:3 first leg defeat against Werder still hurts Terzic. BVB does not want to repeat similar mistakes on Saturday when a 2-0 lead was lost in the shooting phase. “What we have to learn: There can’t be three setbacks in such a short time. That still annoys us. Those three missing points would do us good.”

The Dortmund coach praised the North Germans for coping well with blows like the 7-1 loss in Cologne: “They came back strong after setbacks, that shows their class.”

Terzic hopes to be able to call on Marius Wolf again, who had to be substituted in the 50th minute of the 2-1 DFB Cup midweek win at VfL Bochum. He hopes that Wolf will be able to take part in team training again on Friday and will be part of the squad, said the Dortmund coach. Terzic had special praise for midfielder Emre Can: “He’s worked hard on his fitness. A confident and fit Emre Can helps every team.”

A break for frequent players Jude Bellingham is not up for discussion despite the upcoming English week: “He played a lot, he doesn’t go into every game without pain, it leaves marks. We only take the risk that we have to take. But he is totally clear in his communication, we don’t see any problems at the moment. He’s ready for 90 minutes.”
