Emre Can reacts to the alleged strike list: “Fake News”

Midfielder Emre Can has localized rumors that he is on a strike list at BVB to the realm of fables. Such reports are “fake news”.

After Borussia’s 2-0 away win at VfB Stuttgart on Friday evening, Can commented on rumors from the picture to the Norwegian sports channel Viaplay: “I read today that they want to sell me,” Can alluded to an alleged strike list at BVB.

“For me, this is fake news.” Can justified this view with his playing time: “I play every game, I’m on the pitch for 90 minutes every game. They say I made mistakes this season. That’s not true. I made a mistake this season, and that was last week (at 1: 4 against RB Leipzig, editor’s note).”

picture had recently reported that at BVB with Can, Julian Brandt – his character double goal scorer against VfB – and Nico Schulz, three national players should be on the sidelines and could be “bargained” for comparatively low transfer fees, as the tabloid put it. For Can, for example, who still has a contract until 2024, 15 million euros have been called up.

Against Stuttgart, Can acted as a right-back in a back four, having previously mostly played as a central defender in a back three. Meanwhile, his ideal position is defensive midfield.
