FC Bayern Munich fans attacked the Bremen police with several banners during the home game against Schalke 04. In doing so, they reacted to what they considered to be disproportionate measures in the away game in Bremen a week earlier.
After FC Bayern’s 2-1 win against Werderwaren, Munich buses were detained until 3 a.m.
Against Schalke, therefore, banners with “Police Bremen – Is your helmet on fire?” and “Police Bremen – the V stands for proportionality”. In addition, the abbreviation “ACAB” could be seen on several banners.
Across from SPOX and GOAL, Alexander Salzweger, spokesman for Club No. 12, commented on the action taken by the Bremen police and described it as “absolutely disproportionate”: “Unfortunately, fans of active fan scenes know such operations, but that was absolutely excessive even by their standards.”
The Bremen police announced that a total of 380 people had been checked in five coaches. Criminal charges had been filed for violations of the Explosives Act.
