According to information from the Bild newspaper, Lucien Favre is returning to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 64-year-old is to receive a two-year contract as the successor to Adi Hütter and will be presented on Sunday. A club spokesman denied this on Friday, however, when asked by SID.
Favre worked for the five-time German champions from 2011 to 2015 and first saved the club from relegation and then led it to the Champions League. After the split, Favre coached OGC Nice and Borussia Dortmund.
The Gladbachers ended their collaboration with Hütter after the season. The Austrian switched from Eintracht Frankfurt to Borussia for seven and a half million euros, but did not meet expectations.
