- The Augsburg winning goal was scored by Mergim Berisha in the 59th minute.
- Before the bankruptcy in Augsburg, Munich had not gotten past a draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart. FC Bayern had four Bundesliga games in a row without a win under coach Giovanni Trapattoni.
- After 87 games in a row, FC Bayern remained without a goal in the Bundesliga for the first time.
FC Augsburg – FC Bayern Munich: The analysis
Julian Nagelsmann relied on the same quartet on the offensive as in the win against Barcelona, but formed it differently: Sadio Mané and Leroy Sané gave a nominal double lead, behind them playmakers Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala acted. It was the flexible 4-2-2-2 that had worked well before Nagelsmann switched to the 4-2-3-1 at the start of the season – and is especially good for new signing Mané.
In Augsburg, however, the system change was not fruitful: FC Bayern presented itself in a state of jittery for long stretches of the first half, unnecessary bad passes and turnovers followed one another. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, who replaced Marcel Sabitzer in the starting XI, lacked access in the center.
Augsburg held back physically, played more courageously as the game went on and repeatedly found themselves in dangerous final situations. In some cases, the hosts advanced so far that FC Bayern even had counterattack chances. However, the nimble Munich offensive players did not use this quite unusual privilege consistently enough.
Nagelsmann did not make any changes at the break, nothing changed in the game – and Augsburg did not take the lead undeservedly. Nagelsmann then brought another offensive player for Mazraoui in Gnabry, Kimmich moved to the right back.
A Munich pressure phase followed, which was not rewarded due to a lack of precision. In added time, keeper Manuel Neuer stormed forward and missed a huge header chance.

FC Augsburg – FC Bayern Munich: The data for the game
Goal: 1-0 Berisha (59′)
The star of the game: Mergim Berisha (FC Augsburg)
Berisha wore himself out in numerous duels at the front line and became the Augsburg hero with his winning goal.
The flop of the match: Noussair Mazraoui (FC Bayern Munich)
Nagelsmann Mazraoui rewarded his good performance after coming on against Barcelona with a starting XI place in Augsburg. However, the newcomer did not justify the trust placed in him: too timid in the duels, too imprecise in the passing game. Slightly injured, Mazraoui became the first Bayern player to be substituted shortly after conceding a goal.
The referee: Marco Fritz
Fritz had the game, which was rough at times, well under control.
