Maria KeaneNext bad news for Bouna Sarr: According to the L’Equipe The FC Bayern Munich defender will undergo an operation on the patellar tendon on Tuesday.
The Senegalese has been struggling with knee problems for the past two years, and the surgery should fix them.
As the French newspaper further reports, Sarr should not be operational again until 2023. On the one hand, this means that the 30-year-old will miss the entire first half of the season for Bayern, and on the other hand he will probably have to write off his participation in the World Cup in Qatar.
Sarr came to FCB from Olympique Marseille in 2020. The Munich team paid eight million euros for him at the time, but the transfer was not a success. Last season he only played a total of 59 Bundesliga minutes because he was struggling with the aforementioned patellar tendon problems and also took part in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and won it.
This season, Sarr has not yet been used in a competitive game by Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann. In addition to the defender, Kinsgley Coman (muscle injury) is also currently absent.
