Maria KeaneDayot Upamecano (22) sustained a muscular injury in his right thigh in the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern and Hertha BSC. It is questionable whether the central defender can play against his ex-club RB Leipzig.
According to information from SPOX and Goal, it is not a serious muscle injury. The player should start running again in the course of the coming week. The situation then has to be reassessed from day to day.
On September 11, the FCB competes in the league cracker at runner-up Leipzig. Upamecano had worn the Saxons jersey from 2017 to 2021 before Bayern signed him for 42.5 million euros. In the previous season, the French international has always been part of coach Julian Nagelsmann’s permanent staff and played 315 minutes.
In the duel with Hertha it was only enough for half time because his right thigh pinched. Afterwards, Nagelsmann spoke of a “precautionary measure”. Upamecano then traveled to the Equipe Tricolore in Clairefontaine. Once there, however, the player felt a little more pain than before and returned to the Bavarian capital after consulting with the national team’s medical staff.
