Bayern President Herbert Hainer defends his CEO Oliver Kahn in his dispute with record national player Lothar Matthäus.
“There is absolutely no reason to doubt Oliver Kahn’s words,” said Hainer at Magenta Sport. According to the 68-year-old, Matthew’s accusations went “clearly too far. He crossed a line there.”
skyExpert Matthäus had heavily criticized Kahn in the run-up to Munich’s top Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund (4: 2) on Saturday and later even accused him of lying. “I know that Oliver Kahn is lying,” said Matthäus on t-online. The background was the circumstances of the dismissal of coach Julian Nagelsmann at the record champions.
“I think Oliver and Hasan (Salihamidzic, ed.) said enough about the background,” said Hainer and followed up against Matthäus: “Lately he’s been criticizing us very often and very harshly. That’s his job as Commentator: I don’t understand at all why Lothar makes such insinuations.”
