Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic from Bayern Munich attacked the agent of the world footballer in the ongoing theater of change around Robert Lewandowski. “He’s had an advisor who’s been turning his head for the whole year. It’s just not clean,” Salihamidzic said sports1-One-two pass over Pini Zahavi, whom Honorary President Uli Hoeneß once called “Piranha”.
Salihamidzic also opposed reports that the Munich offer to extend Lewandowski’s contract was not specific enough. “It’s very clear that he got an offer with a term and amount on the way,” he said of talks with Zahavi to extend Lewandowski’s working paper beyond 2023.
“I can’t say what he said to the player,” added Salihamidzic, adding that he was “surprised” by the player’s agent’s behavior. Unlike Zahavi, he would “never” reveal details of contract talks.
Lewandowski had publicly stated that he wanted to leave Bayern – preferably this summer. He is being courted by FC Barcelona, whose manager Xavi said: “It is possible that he will come.”
Barca are said to have submitted a first written offer for a fee of €32m. Salihamidzic did not want to comment on this and repeated Bayern’s position: “One thing is clear: Lewa has a contract until the summer of next year – and he will fulfill it.”
FC Bayern: Robert Lewandowski the “most important player”
For the record champions, the 33-year-old is “the most important player that many clubs in Europe would like to have. We have the greatest respect for Lewa. FC Bayern have always behaved correctly towards him”.
With captain Manuel Neuer, they are “on the home stretch” when it comes to extra time, Salihamidzic reported: “I’m very optimistic about that. Manuel is a very important player, a key to success.” Neuer is to extend his contract, which runs until 2023, by one year.
