FC Bayern: Leon Goretzka rejects transfer plans: "I love the club"

Most recently, Leon Goretzka was associated with a farewell to Munich. Now he makes it clear that there is nothing to these rumors, at least from his side.

Leon Goretzka from FC Bayern Munich has cleared up the speculation about his person. On the fringes of the FCB team presentation, he acknowledged the record champions and categorically ruled out a voluntary departure this summer.

“I can only say: I love the club, I love the city, I love the fans. I just want to continue. There are no thoughts of leaving the club,” said Goretzka. When asked, he explained: “You can’t make it much clearer than I just said.”

The midfielder didn’t blame him for the fact that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to guarantee that Goretzka would still be a Bayern player after the transfer window had closed: “I think that’s a legitimate statement. We all know how fast-paced the business is. I think there are some very crazy things that happen in a transfer window like this,” said Goretzka.

Bayern coach Tuchel has already received a new signing for central midfield in Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. He is said to be looking for another six, which would further intensify the competitive situation in the record champions’ headquarters.

Bayern Munich: Premier League clubs interested in Goretzka

Goretzka did not have his strongest phase in the last back series and was temporarily no longer placed next to Joshua Kimmich. His standing within the club is said to have suffered.

In recent weeks, Manchester United and West Ham have been said to have a strong interest in the 28-year-old.

Goretzka made 27 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, starting 22 of them. He scored three goals and two assists.
