In the search for new players, FC Bayern currently seems to be concentrating on two clubs in particular. It might be good to broaden your horizons.

FC Bayern signed the next contract extension last week: substitute keeper Sven Ulreich will stay with the record champions for another year. “Sven has an excellent understanding of his role,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

Means above all: Ulreich makes no demands and does not stress Manuel Neuer. The deal with Ulreich also points to an early announcement of an extension with number 1 Neuer. So Salihamidzic is on schedule here.

Only: The contract extensions with the existing staff only strengthen the status quo. Bayern must want more on the transfer market.

There’s the thing! FC Bayern Munich has secured the championship title for the tenth time in a row. The bowl was handed over on the penultimate day after the game against VfB Stuttgart. We show the best pictures.

There were flowers for Niklas Süle before the game. The central defender is moving to Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.

FC Bayern: Ajax fan in the scouting department?

You can’t get back there just by extending the contract. New people are needed. And Bayern should be more creative. Noussair Mazraoui’s signing is almost certain. He currently plays at Ajax Amsterdam as well as Ryan Gravenberch.

Negotiations for the midfielder seem to be faltering, it’s about the transfer. Now Bayern are said to be interested in a third player from Amsterdam: central defender Jurrien Timber. You’re beginning to wonder: Is there a dedicated Ajax fan in Munich’s scouting department? Are you looking elsewhere for potential signings?

The search for a player is not that one-sided. The Bayern bosses keep looking to Leipzig. Last year they snapped up coach Julian Nagelsmann and shortly afterwards captain Marcel Sabitzer. In the event that Serge Gnabry leaves, Christopher Nkunku is under discussion. Now midfielder Konrad Laimer is also a hot candidate in Munich.

Sadio Mane could really bring Bayern forward

Poaching at selected clubs is a tradition in Bavaria. Sometimes you bought more in Bremen, in Leverkusen or Dortmund. The big difference to today: Back then, you always weakened a competitor with the transfers. But that’s not really the case with Leipzig.

The Munich team is currently 19 points ahead of RB. Ajax Amsterdam will not be their main competitor for the Champions League title either. Perhaps the increased focus on Amsterdam and Leipzig is just a snapshot. There’s still a long time for transfers. When looking for a player, however, it can never hurt to broaden your horizons a bit.
