Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s future at Bayern Munich has apparently been explained. According to information from sky he signs a new contract.
According to the report, there is an agreement between the club and the striker that the 33-year-old will extend his contract, which expires in the summer, by a year until 2024.
However, the new working paper should not include an option for another year, but Choupo-Moting should receive significantly more salary than before from the summer.
In February the sports picture nor reported that Bayern’s top scorer would insist on a two-year contract. It was also said that Choupo-Moting and his advisor Roger Wittmann would demand a double-digit million amount. It is not clear from the report whether the second demand was accepted.
“We have worked out a decent position in the talks. Hasan Salihamidzic can also confirm that. We are on our last legs. However, I cannot say how it will end,” said Wittmann on Deadline Day sky. The proper position has now probably been converted into a contract extension.
FC Bayern: No new striker in summer?
By extending the contract, FC Bayern is also sending a clear signal that a new striker will not necessarily be signed in the summer. In addition to the Cameroonian international, coach Julian Nagelsmann also has youngster Mathys Tel in his ranks for the top team. According to reports, the German record champion sees himself armed for the coming season.
In the summer of 2024, when Choupo-Moting’s new contract expires, a new attempt could be made with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, who is said to be the player of choice. The England international’s contract also expires after the 2023/24 season.
As the number one striker at FCB this season, the Cameroonian has made 24 appearances in all competitions. The native of Hamburg has 15 goals and four assists to his credit.
