FC Bayern Munich fears for Leon Goretzka: injured, replaced against Belgium

FC Bayern Munich is worried about Leon Goretzka before the top game in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder was injured and substituted in the first half of the DFB team’s friendly against Belgium.

In the 29th minute of the game, Goretzka went into a running duel with a score of 0:2 against Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku and twisted his ankle. The 28-year-old immediately complained about problems, sat down on the lawn and had to be treated. That was the end of the game for him.

National coach Hansi Flick replaced Goretzka with Felix Nmecha. The VfL Wolfsburg attacking midfielder made his international debut.

At Bayern, Goretzka’s injury should have been registered with concern. On Saturday, the Reds meet Borussia Dortmund in the top game of the Bundesliga. Goretzka was considered a safe candidate for the starting lineup, even under new coach Thomas Tuchel.

So far this season, Goretzka has made 28 appearances for Bayern, scoring six goals and six assists. The game against Belgium was the 50th international match for the former Schalke player.
