FC Bayern Munich - "I could well imagine him": Arjen Robben as the successor to Hasan Salihamidzic in conversation

Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has been heavily criticized after the German record champions’ weak and probably untitled 2022/23 season. Ex-player Dietmar Hamann now brings Arjen Robben into play as a possible successor.

“I could well imagine Robben as a link between the team and the board at Bayern,” says Hamann Evening News. “Maybe as a sports director or team manager.” According to Hamann, if Salihamidzic has to vacate his post, “it would be good if someone who knows the club very well follows.”

Robben was at the Allianz Arena last weekend alongside a number of other former Bayern stars during the 3-1 defeat by RB Leipzig and continues to enjoy great sympathy in the Bayern family.

After the last game of the season on Saturday, the future of Salihamidzic and CEO Oliver Kahn will be decided at the Bayern supervisory board meeting on May 30th. It is unlikely that both will be allowed to continue.

A possible successor to Kahn is the outgoing finance boss Jan-Christian Dreesen, whose contract expires at the end of June and who could also leave Bayern for the DFL.
