FC Bayern Munich – Joshua Kimmich: Zoff because of use as a right-back? Julian Nagelsmann comments

Julian Nagelsmann has opened up about Joshua Kimmich’s alleged dislike for the right-back position. The coach of FC Bayern Munich could not resist a little media scolding.

“That’s not true,” said Nagelsmann after Munich’s 2-0 win at FC Schalke 04: “I spoke to him again this morning and he said: Tell the journalists, that’s complete nonsense.”

Football is a team sport – if one fails, another player has to help out, the 35-year-old made it clear. Kimmich had to play at right-back in Gelsenkirchen because Josip Stanišić (tonsillitis) and Noussair Mazraoui (hamstring problems) were unfit.

“I prefer to see him on the six, but he doesn’t care. That’s what all the journalists say. He also plays on the left front or right back. Of course he has a favorite position,” Nagelsmann continued.

Recently it was said in various media that Kimmich would almost refuse to give the right-back. There is even said to have been an incident during Bayern’s 1-0 defeat at FC Augsburg in September. When Mazraoui was substituted and Kimmich was supposed to take his position, the 27-year-old complained.

Kimmich moved from RB Leipzig to FC Bayern in 2015. Since then he has played 323 competitive games for the German record champions, scoring 36 goals and assisting 89 goals.
