FC Bayern Munich – Julian Nagelsmann: “The Manuel Neuer case is not closed”

Before FC Bayern Munich’s home game against VfL Bochum, coach Julian Nagelsmann spoke again about Manuel Neuer after his explosive interview.

“The Manuel Neuer case is not closed,” said Nagelsmann and added: “You can understand that in two directions. The topic is closed in that we are looking ahead.”

The Bayern coach also emphasized, as at the press conference on Friday before the game, that FCB would do everything to ensure that Neuer recovers from his skiing accident. “I try to support him as best I can. I expect him to support the team and me in achieving our goals.”

Nagelsmann continues: “Football is a team sport and everyone is in the same boat. Everyone involved has to steer the boat in the right direction. Just wait and don’t talk about the same topic 500 times.”

For this reason, there had already been a personal conversation between Nagelsmann and Neuer. It was also about the much-discussed interview, as he confirmed. At the press conference he had claimed the opposite. “That was ironic. We exchanged ideas, that remains internal,” he clarified.

Nagelsmann also commented on the upcoming game in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday and said in relation to the game against Bochum. “The two teams don’t have much in common, they play different football. We want to take the flow with us. The game is relevant for Tuesday, you can take the first steps. We want to make both games optimal with two wins, there’s no question about that .”

Regarding the weak start to the new year with three draws in a row, Nagelsmann added: “At the beginning of the second half of the season we didn’t score as we should. If we win all the games, nobody can make life difficult for us. If we don’t do that, then yes.”
